You down with ACC? (yeah you know me)


Do you get confused when you receive your ACC bill? If you’re self-employed did you know that there are other options for you around ACC? ACC cover plus (the default plan) is designed for employees, ACC have developed a solution that is especially designed for self-employed people, Cover Plus Extra. (CPX).

Here are the key benefits of CPX:

  • The benefit is agreed up front: you don’t have to prove your income at claim time. This can be a real issue if your income is variable. The new solution provides certainty and makes claim time a lot less stressful.
  • You can choose you level of cover: you need to get advice around this but in many cases you can reduce your ACC benefit to the minimum, saving a considerable amount in levies. In many cases you can get cover for illness and accident and still save money.
  • Your benefit continues until you return to work fulltime: under the default plan, your ACC benefit will stop when you return to work part time, if you change to CPX the benefit continues until you can return to work full time.
